Finding Your Animal Spirit Guide

A spirit guide is an animal spirit (or several animals spirits) that guide and protect you through your life. They give you comfort as well as an example of what to be in life. A spirit guide is an animal that resignations with you, that you feel like you can connect to. This might often be an animal that you have often feared, yet been intrigued with. A spirit guide connects you with the earth and with nature. The spirit guide is a reflection of ourselves, they represent what and who we are.

Although found primarily amongst Native American and Aboriginal people, anybody can have an spirit guide. Spirit Guides do not discriminate against sex or race. Spirit Guides are there for anyone who has a connection with the earth and with Mother Nature.

Many people believe that finding your spirit guide requires you to be Native American or go through a Spirit Walk, this however is not case. If you have the accessibility to go on a Spirit Walk then by all means, please do! However, this option is not viable for most people.

There are actually many options for people to find their spirit guide. One method is to look up an Native American Zodiac. The zodiac will show you what animal falls under your birth date. This does not mean however that the animal for your birth date is your spirit guide, but most often times it will be an animal that represents you fairly well.

Another way to find your spirit guide is through your dreams. Do you dream often of a certain animal? Is there an animal that has always frightened you, but been intriguing to you at the same time? Most often the animal that you're most fearful of will bring you closest to nature. I personally had always been fearful of wolves. I dreamed of them often and sometimes I would dream that I was actually a wolf. I later found out that this was the wolf spirit calling me. Now I no longer fear wolves, but respect them and look to them as my spirit guide.

Take walks out in nature. Observe the animals around you. Being in nature is one of the greatest ways to find your spirit guide because the whole purpose behind a spirit guide is to provide you with a further connection to Mother Earth.

Look at various animals and try to find which ones seem to suit you best. Don't forget the aquatic animals as well as insects and birds, they count too! There are so many amazing animals out in the world that you should have no problem finding your spirit guide.

Remember, Spirit Guides are not meant to be worshiped. They are meant to be our equals, to bring man and nature together as one. We are not meant to dominate our spirit guide, nor they dominate us. They are there for us to work as a team to become close to the earth mother.
