Eva Mendes was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants. Out of 4 children, she was the only one born in America. Eva was primarily raised in California by her mother after her parents divorced.

She attended college at California State University, majoring in Marketing and minoring in Interior Design. However, she never finished her degree and dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

Her big break came in 2001 when she was cast as Denzel Washington's girlfriend in the film Training Day. After that, she slowly began to find work in bigger films as more prominent characters. Her biggest film to date was 2005's Hitch, starring alongside Will Smith.

Since her big break, she has had great success as a model as well as a spokesperson for Revlon. She has also been featured in several music videos.
