Egg Free Sugar Cookies

By

Ever get a craving for something and don't have the ingredients for it? Do you have food allergies and have a hard time finding recipes to accommodate your needs? Last night I had both of these problems! I have an egg allergy and was craving Sugar Cookies really bad, but had no more egg substitute.

To solve my problem, I decided to attempt to create egg free sugar cookies. I was a little uncertain at first, but I had nothing else better to do so I figured I might as well attempt to make them! It didn't help that I didn't have many other ingredients to work with, so I had to make this batter really simple. Despite all this, I was incredibly pleased with how the cookies turned out. The dough is also safe to eat, which is a great plus in my book!

Recipe

  • 3/4 lb of Butter
  • 2 c of Sugar
  • 3 c of Flour
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla
  • 1 tsp of Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp of Cinnamon
  • Dash of Salt

Preheat oven to 350. Fold the flour and butter together. Add the other ingredients. Roll the dough into small balls. Flatten the balls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 13 minutes, or until cookies are golden.

Enjoy!

Thank you for posting! We don't eat processed food, so I wind up having to supply something similar every time there is a food related activity at school. My child's class is using pre-made dough to make a sugar cookie shaped as a lion as part of their lesson. So I have to send my child with the uncooked dough to school. The only recipes I've used for sugar cookies in the past have egg in them. I really didn't want to send my kiddo off to school with raw egg in uncooked dough, sitting all day in her lunch bag with just the ice pack. And I don't know how well she will be washing her hands after working with the dough. I can't wait to try out this recipe!
