Going Vegan... All the Way

You've taken the plunge, you've made the lifestyle change; you're now a vegan, congratulations! However, to truly go completely vegan, you need to change your wardrobe as well. Don't panic! This can be done in a fashionable and somewhat inexpensive manner.

The hardest part is already behind you, so don't stress out over the little stuff. Start off small with your wardrobe. The best place to begin with is your shoes. Get rid of any leather shoes you might have, unless you absolutely need them. Try to do without your leather tennis shoes and such until you can purchase vegan ones.

Next item in your wardrobe to try going without is your handbags and wallets. Almost all of these are made from animal products. Try to just go without, or carry canvas bags and wallets instead.

For some people, completely changing their wardrobe like this can be nerve racking. Many people are very attached to their clothes and have worked hard to build the collection that they have. This is why it's best to start off slow when going vegan, don't completely jump into it right away. Slowly eliminate your old animal based apparel whilst adding vegan apparel to the mix, this will help you not miss your old things as much.

5 Vegan Companies

TOMS offers stylish handmade canvas shoes for men, women, and children (even infants!). Not all of the shoes are vegan, but TOMS does have a very nice selection of vegan shoes. The canvas is very durable and can be machine washed on a gentle cycle. I've had a pair of vegan TOMS for about 3 years and they still look brand new, even though I wear them frequently.

English Treads offer unique products for vegans and the environmentally conscious. The company specializes in handbags and accessories made from upcycled inner tubes! This has helped the company to market into two different fields of environmental conservation.

Freerangers specializes in shoes, accessories, and clothing for the whole family. All their products are vegan and handmade. Do note that this is a British company but they do ship internationally.

If you love fur coats, but refuse to wear one because of the life taken, then this is the site for you! Genuine Fake specializes in beautiful faux fur coats for men and women.

Shopping specialty vegan products can be quite the hassle, especially for people within the gothic scene. Heavy Red has taken them into consideration and has developed a line of vegan goth couture. The prices are very reasonable, making this a great site for anyone within the goth scene to check out, especially vegan goths.

Very interesting hub. Although I am not vegan myself I really do respect this idea fully and support anyone who is. Voted up.
